FAQ

Questions, answered.

Short, honest answers about federal grants and how we help.

Where does the data come from?

Grants.gov, the official federal source for grant opportunities. We refresh the list hourly. See data sources.

Does a match mean I'm eligible?

No. A match means your organization type is listed, eligibility is unrestricted, or your type appears in the eligibility text. Always read the full listing before you apply.

Can individuals or small businesses get federal grants?

Some, but far fewer than nonprofits and governments. Many federal programs for businesses are loans or contracts rather than grants. Our guide explains.

Is it free?

Searching is free, with no account. Pro will add saved searches, tracking and calendar feeds.

Why are some results “forecasted”?

Agencies sometimes announce a program before it opens. Dates are estimates until the opportunity is posted.

Do you cover state, local or foundation grants?

Not yet. We cover federal grants listed on Grants.gov. We don't cover loans, contracts or private foundation grants.

Does it cost money to apply for a federal grant?

No. Applying through Grants.gov is free. Be wary of anyone charging to “guarantee” a grant; see the FTC's advice.

How current are deadlines?

We refresh the list hourly and each opportunity's details at least weekly, or sooner when they change. Always confirm the deadline on the official listing.

Do you help write applications?

No. We help you find and track opportunities. We don't write, review or submit applications.

Is Aeonis affiliated with Grants.gov?

No. We use the public Grants.gov API, but we are not endorsed by or affiliated with Grants.gov, HHS or any agency.

Still have a question?

We read every message.
